Relegated to the bottom of the SBF 120, Soitec stock falls 3.5% after its annual surge
Soitec declines during trading in an almost stable Paris market, and ranks among the laggards in its index. The Isère-based semiconductor substrate manufacturer extends the profit-taking movement initiated after a spectacular rally since summer.
A stock that drops 3.27% and falls back below its 20-day moving average
The stock falls 3.27% to €149.45, ranking 117th out of 120 in the SBF 120, while the CAC 40 gains 0.06%. The decline occurs following a 10.75% drop over one week, but the value remains up 5.88% over one month and over 52% over three months. The price falls below the MA20 (€151.54, a gap of 1.38%), a threshold it had reclaimed during the early October rebound.
Conversely, the MA50 (€133.59) remains well below the current price, with a gap of nearly 12%, a sign that the underlying trend is not being called into question by this decline. The MACD, whose line is moving below its signal line, accompanies this correction movement, while the RSI at 56 remains in neutral territory.
High valuation, between share buybacks and forward P/E at 188.8
After a rise of nearly 250% over one year, the stock is trading at approximately 188.8 times expected earnings for the current fiscal year and 41.5 times those of the following fiscal year, according to analyst consensus. These multiples partly explain the stock's sensitivity to profit-taking, as observed in recent days. The group can, however, rely on a €358 million share buyback program, announced on July 29, 2026, which constitutes a support factor over time.
From a macroeconomic perspective, the bond market remains tight: the 10-year OAT is at 4.86% on October 12, 5 basis points away from its series high, and the spread with the Bund reaches 1.40 points. For high-valuation technology stocks, this level of rates weighs on multiples. The level of €167.55, the nearest resistance, remains the bullish reference for the stock.
