Saint-Gobain signs green electricity contract with TotalEnergies in the United Kingdom
Saint-Gobain has concluded an agreement with TotalEnergies for the purchase of renewable electricity to supply its industrial sites in the United Kingdom. The agreement is part of the building materials manufacturer's decarbonization strategy, which aims for carbon neutrality by 2050.
A 60 GWh per year contract over five years
Saint-Gobain has signed a renewable electricity purchase agreement with TotalEnergies for 60 GWh per year for its industrial sites in the United Kingdom. The agreement will take effect in April 2027, for a duration of five years.
According to the group, this is the first agreement of its kind in the country. The contract is directly backed by certificates of origin from local renewable energy assets.
More than 20% of British consumption covered
The contract will cover more than 20% of Saint-Gobain's annual electricity consumption in the United Kingdom. The group also indicates that it has been purchasing renewable electricity certificates covering 100% of its consumption in the country since 2016.
David Molho, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Europe Region, emphasized that this reliable and continuous supply of renewable electricity represents a step toward the group's carbon neutrality objective.
A growing share of decarbonized electricity on a global scale
In 2025, Saint-Gobain's share of decarbonized electricity worldwide stood at 70%, compared to 39% in 2021. The group indicates that it has signed 25 significant decarbonized electricity supply contracts in 15 countries.
Saint-Gobain achieved revenue of 46.5 billion euros in 2025 and has 162,000 employees spread across 81 countries.
