SAMSE: Revenue of €470M in Q3 (+3%), Driven by DIY
The Grenoble-based building materials distributor published third-quarter revenue of €470M on October 29, 2026, up 3.0% as reported and 1.7% on a like-for-like basis. After a first quarter down 3.0%, business returned to growth for the second consecutive period.
This growth rests on two activities progressing at different paces. DIY, strengthened by the acquisition of RG Bricolage at the end of November 2025, posted an increase of 11.8%. Wholesale, which generates the bulk of sales, rose 0.9% in a construction market that the group describes as still difficult.
Third Quarter: €470M, Including DIY Up 11.8%
In the third quarter, Wholesale generated revenue of €368.9M, compared with €365.8M a year earlier, an increase of 0.9%. DIY reached €100.9M, compared with €90.3M in the third quarter of 2025.
Part of DIY's growth comes from the acquisition of RG Bricolage, completed at the end of November 2025. After restating for this transaction, activity growth stands at 5.2%, versus 11.8% as reported.
The same effect applies at group level: the 3.0% increase as reported becomes 1.7% on a like-for-like basis. Organic growth remains positive, and scope effects explain the gap between the two measures.
This quarter follows April to June, during which the group had generated revenue of €558.2M, up 4.5%. Wholesale had grown 2.9% and DIY 11.1%.
Nine Months: Wholesale Nearly Stable, DIY Up 9.4%
As of September 30, 2026, cumulative revenue stood at €1,485M, up 1.6% as reported and 0.4% on a like-for-like basis. Wholesale, with €1,177M, fell 0.2% over the period.
DIY reached €308M over nine months, up 9.4% at current scope and 3.1% on a like-for-like basis.
The quarter-by-quarter view of Wholesale qualifies this near-stagnation. Activity had declined 4.8% in the first quarter, before rising 2.9% in the second and 0.9% in the third. The group attributes this profile to weak activity at the start of the year, followed by an improvement in the following months.
DIY, for its part, grew in each of the three quarters: 4.7% in the first, 11.1% in the second and 11.8% in the third. The company links this trend to the performance of its banner L'Entrepôt du Bricolage and to its commercial initiatives, in a market it describes as slow-moving.
Signs of Stabilisation in Some Markets, Limited Visibility
Looking ahead, the group says it is seeing signs of stabilisation in some of its markets. It nonetheless notes that visibility remains limited regarding the pace of recovery in the construction market, in both new build and renovation.
In this context, Samse says it will continue a prudent management policy while maintaining its development investments and commercial ambitions. Fourth-quarter 2026 revenue will be published on January 28, 2027, after the close of trading.
The most significant point in this release concerns Wholesale, the group's primary activity: down 4.8% in the first quarter, it recorded two consecutive quarters of growth, at 2.9% and then 0.9%, for a nine-month total of €1,177M.
