Schneider Electric stock rebounds despite -7% over one month, supported by the Fed
The Paris-listed stock is recovering on Thursday in an overall positive market, following several weeks of turbulence that erased more than 7% of its value over one month. The rebound comes in a context of monetary tightening by the US Federal Reserve, which raised its benchmark rates by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4.00% on September 17, a signal that reverberates across all European exchanges.
A rebound still struggling below the 20-day moving average as the Fed tightens policy
Schneider Electric gains 1.81% during the session at 284.45 €, posting one of the strongest gains in the CAC 40, an index rising by 0.38%. However, the advance is insufficient to break back above the 20-day moving average, which stands at 290.96 €, representing a 2.24% gap above the current price. The stock is evolving instead virtually at its 50-day moving average at 285.76 €, with only a 0.46% difference.
Below that, the 200-day moving average at 263.48 € provides a cushion of nearly 8%, demonstrating that the underlying trend over one year remains positive despite the recent decline. The RSI at 43 remains in a neutral zone, with no oversold or overbought signals, leaving the stock in technical limbo after the sharp correction of recent weeks. The Fed's decision to raise rates, the first since 2023, creates tighter financial conditions globally, an environment that generally weighs on industrial stocks exposed to investment cycles, even if Schneider Electric benefits from structural demand for its electrification and automation solutions.
Solid fundamental momentum, but monthly decline still impacts the trajectory
In terms of performance, the 7.16% decline over one month contrasts with the 24.27% gain achieved over twelve months, illustrating the severity of the recent correction in a context of elevated volatility. Conversely, the three-month performance remains slightly positive at +2.71%, showing that the stock has retained some of the gains accumulated since summer. During the publication of first-half 2026 results on July 31, the group had raised its full-year targets, highlighting a record order book and strong demand for its electrification, automation and digitalization solutions.
This favorable fundamental backdrop provides substance to the current rebound, even if the stock remains below its two main moving averages. The resistance level at 311 € represents the medium-term obstacle, while support at 272.05 € constitutes the first floor to monitor in case of renewed selling pressure. The next earnings release will be the next market information likely to change the stock's trajectory.
