Signify Strengthens Connected Lighting with AI and Video Synchronization
Signify, owner of the Philips Hue brand, has detailed a series of software and hardware innovations around its connected home lighting ecosystem.
The announcement highlights three development areas: artificial intelligence, synchronization with video content, and new decorative luminaires.
AI and Ecosystem Openness at the Heart of Software Developments
The Dutch group presented several software features for the Hue range. The Custom AI Behaviors function, reserved for the Hue Bridge Pro, is designed to enable users to create lighting automations by formulating requests in natural language, translated into behaviors by Hue's AI assistant.
Signify is also preparing a backup and restore function for settings (Back-up & Restore) via the Hue cloud, as well as integration with Sonos allowing control of home audio from certain Philips Hue switches. A partnership with Nanoleaf aims to integrate Nanoleaf Shapes light panels into the Philips Hue ecosystem via the Philips Hue Wall Light Module.
TV Synchronization, New Luminaires and Rollout Starting September 2026
On the entertainment side, Signify is expanding its offer for synchronization between lighting and television content, including notably the Philips Hue Play Screen Sync (a solution using a fisheye lens and automatic calibration) and the Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box 4K. The range of decorative luminaires is expanding for both indoor and outdoor use, with the Philips Hue Liane 360°, the extension of the Signe collection and the Festavia range.
According to Signify, the rollout of software updates and products will begin from September 2026, with availability varying by market. Marco Merolla, head of the consumer connected lighting business, stated his intention to make smart lighting "more intuitive and seamlessly integrated into everyday life".
