Soitec Stock Rebounds Over 5% After Nearly Quadrupling in Three Months
The Isère-based semiconductor substrate specialist is regaining ground mid-session, after a sharp drop earlier in the week. The rebound is accompanied by mixed target revisions from analysts, while the stock remains caught in a pattern of high volatility since the annual accounts were released.
The session illustrates a consolidation pattern after a spectacular three-month rally.
Soitec Stock Rebounds After Drop, Approaching Its 20-Day Moving Average at €159.65
Soitec's stock is up 5.4% at €155.15 during the session, among the strongest gains in the SBF 120. The movement comes after a decline of more than 7% following a record high since 2022 hit on Friday.
The stock is returning to its 20-day moving average, located at €159.65, which it briefly lost during the previous day's drop. The gap above the 50-day moving average, at €110.41, remains significant (over 40%), reflecting the 279% rally accumulated over three months. The RSI at 50 indicates a phase of balance as the stock stabilizes after several sessions of high volatility.
The monthly volatility remains high, at 26.58%, consistent with a 279% increase over three months.
JP Morgan Lowers Target to €130, CIC Market Solutions Sets at €150
Two firms publish their revisions on the stock today. JP Morgan reduces its price target from €150 to €130 and shifts to neutral, a level now below the current price of €155.15. Conversely, CIC Market Solutions sets its target at €150 with a neutral outlook, in the same range. Both recommendations now place the stock slightly above the targets set by these brokers.
On the fundamentals, the annual publication on May 27 showed a revenue decline of 34% for fiscal year 2026 to €592 million, offset by a cash flow back to +€63 million. During this release, the company cited among its risks the correction of inventories at its RF-SOI clients and pressure on profitability, while highlighting the adoption of Photonics-SOI solutions for data centers as a growth driver.
The valuation context remains tense: based on expected earnings, the stock is trading at about 442.7 times current year profits and 92.8 times next year's, according to the consensus of surveyed analysts. According to reviewed statements, net short positions accumulate 2.55% of the capital across three funds, down 2 points over thirty days. This easing, after a peak at 4.55% a month ago, suggests a gradual covering of bearish bets, though it should not be seen as isolated from the general context of the stock.
