STMicroelectronics seeks to extend Jean-Marc Chéry for one year, shareholder vote in 2027
On October 13, 2026, the semiconductor manufacturer announced that its Supervisory Board had requested the renewal of its chief executive, who gave his consent. The final decision will rest with shareholders, who will be called to vote at the 2027 Annual General Meeting.
The Supervisory Board requests the renewal of Jean-Marc Chéry
STMicroelectronics indicated from Geneva that its Supervisory Board has asked Jean-Marc Chéry, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer, to make himself available for a renewal of his current functions "for an additional year". The person concerned accepted the proposal.
The approach does not constitute a change of management: it concerns the extension of the two functions currently exercised by Jean-Marc Chéry, at the head of the Board of Directors and the general management of the group, which claims 49,000 employees and more than 200,000 customers.
A shareholder vote in 2027 on a one-year term
The Supervisory Board will submit to shareholder approval, at the 2027 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, the renewal for a period of one year of Jean-Marc Chéry as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer. The renewal is therefore not assured at this stage: it remains subject to this vote.
To justify its decision, the Supervisory Board invokes, according to the press release, "the importance of continuity in ST's strategy, execution rigor and the momentum achieved" under the leadership of Jean-Marc Chéry.
