Titan: S&P upgrades rating to BBB-, cement maker moves to investment grade
S&P Global Ratings has upgraded cement maker Titan's long-term issuer credit rating from "BB+" to "BBB-", with a stable outlook, announced Titan SA on October 6, 2026. The group presents this decision as a milestone in the execution of its strategic plan Titan Forward 2029.
A decision attributed to financial discipline
According to the group's press release, the upgrade decided by S&P Global Ratings reflects the consistency of its operational performance, a prudent financial policy, resilient cash flow generation and a sustained commitment to maintaining a solid balance sheet. Titan also cites its market positions, geographic diversification and capital allocation discipline among the elements supporting this rating.
For the company, obtaining an investment-grade rating constitutes independent validation of its credit profile. It also sees this as a demonstration that it remains on track to achieve the strategic and financial objectives presented at its investor day dedicated to the Titan Forward 2029 plan.
Expanded access to capital markets and reduced financing costs
Titan indicates it expects this rating to provide expanded access to capital markets, diversification of its financing sources and increased financial flexibility to fund its growth, innovation and decarbonization.
"Achieving investment grade at S&P is a decisive milestone in Titan's journey, reflecting years of disciplined financial execution, debt reduction and regular cash generation," said John Ioannou, group chief financial officer. According to him, this rating "broadens our access to capital markets, reduces our financing costs and gives us greater flexibility to invest in growth and decarbonization".
Incorporated in Belgium, Titan is listed on Euronext Brussels, Paris and Athens, while its American operations are listed on the NYSE. The group employs over 6,000 people and serves customers in more than 25 markets.
