Up 35% year-over-year, Viridien stock rebounds nearly 3%
The geosciences specialist rebounds mid-morning in a Paris market oriented upwards. The movement follows a weekly decline and occurs as pressure from short sellers remains a salient point in the file.
A rebound that leaves the stock below its three moving averages
Viridien stock gains 2.94% to €87.50, compared to a close of €85 the previous day. It ranks among the strongest gains of the SBF 120, which rises 0.66% during the session, and partially erases the 2.99% decline suffered over seven days. The increase has not yet allowed the stock to regain its moving averages: it remains below the MA20 at €91.20 (gap of 4.06%) and the MA50 at €89.90 €.
Further out, the MA200 at €107.92 is nearly 19% above the price, while the stock still shows 12.5% gains over three months. The RSI at 42 remains neutral, while support at €82.60 is located approximately 5.6% below the price.
Short-selling funds account for 9.5% of capital, while Goldman Sachs lowers its target
According to filed declarations, nine funds cumulate a net short position of 9.50% of capital, compared to 6.43% thirty days ago, a progression of 3.07 points. This level signals institutional investors positioned against the stock, or seeking to hedge an exposure, and the speed of the increase warrants monitoring without inferring a precise intention of the funds. On the analyst side, Goldman Sachs lowered its price target on Monday from €118 to €113, while maintaining its buy rating.
This target remains approximately 29% above the current price. The analyst consensus does not emerge from today's data, but this adjustment marks a clear tightening of the target without change of opinion. The next technical barrier to monitor is the MA50 at €89.90, approximately 3% above the current price.
