Valeo Partners with Nissan to Deploy V2G Charging in Europe, Starting in the UK
Valeo and Nissan have announced a partnership to deploy a comprehensive electric vehicle charging solution across the European market, starting with the UK. The agreement includes two complementary technological solutions: a unidirectional V1G AC charging station and a bidirectional V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) charging station.
Two Charging Solutions for Nissan's Energy Ecosystem
The agreement involves the provision of two types of charging stations. First, a smart unidirectional V1G AC charging station, compliant with the British EVSCP standard, intended for standard charging. Next, a bidirectional V2G AC charging station, which supports the Vehicle-to-Grid energy services that Nissan will offer to its customers. Through this contract, Valeo provides the necessary electrification technologies for Nissan's integrated energy ecosystem. The rollout begins in the UK with plans to expand to other European markets.
Unveiling at Power2Drive Europe Exhibition
The two new charging stations, along with the entire Valeo Ineez charging solution, will be showcased from June 23 to 25, 2026, at the Power2Drive Europe exhibition in Munich, in hall 6, booth 416. This public presentation follows immediately after the contract announcement, providing a quick commercial visibility to the solutions within the European automotive and energy sectors.
V2G Technology for Electrical Grid Stability
V2G technology offers Nissan's electric vehicle drivers the ability to engage in smart, bidirectional energy exchange, turning the vehicle into an energy resource capable of powering the grid or recharging as needed. According to Soufiane El Khomri, director of Nissan Energy Services, this approach allows customers to 'actively manage their energy, reduce their costs, and contribute to the resilience of the electrical grid.' This contract is part of Valeo's strategy to strengthen its position in the smart electric vehicle charging market in Europe.
