Vallourec Secures Two Orders from ExxonMobil Guyana for 145 km of Pipelines
On Wednesday, Vallourec announced two new pipeline orders from ExxonMobil Guyana Limited, following a framework agreement signed in 2021. These contracts are part of ExxonMobil's deepwater Hammerhead and Longtail projects.
Scope: 145 km of Pipeline and 40,000 Tons of Tubes
The two orders involve the supply of over 145 kilometers of pipeline, totaling about 40,000 tons of tubes. Of this quantity, 90 km (22,000 tons of tubes) will undergo thermal treatment with the Proxxima resin system equipped with ExxonMobil's GDLX underwater insulation technology.
The tubes will also receive anti-corrosion coating and an interior treatment based on a corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) welding process. Both projects (Hammerhead and Longtail) are located in the Stabroek block.
Brazilian Investment and Technological Licenses
Vallourec has become the first licensee for the Proxxima resin systems equipped with GDLX underwater insulation technology, granted by ExxonMobil for commercialization.
To support this development, the group will invest in modernizing its Vallourec Coating Solutions plant located in Serra, in Espírito Santo, Brazil. The Proxxima resin system offers superior thermal performance compared to conventional systems and allows direct application on bare steel, thus speeding up the tube insulation process.
Operational Advantages of Insulating Coating
The insulating coating improves the cooling times of the tubes and helps operators reduce operating costs related to protection measures, such as the injection of inhibitors or the recirculation of stabilized crude, during prolonged shutdowns.
