Vallourec Signs Agreement with Ultra Corpotech to Produce VAM Threads in India
On Tuesday, Vallourec signed a memorandum of understanding with Ultra Corpotech Pvt Ltd to establish a VAM threading capacity in India. This collaboration responds to the reorganization of oil supply chains towards the Eastern Hemisphere.
A Protocol to Localize VAM Production in India
Vallourec and the Indian supplier Ultra Corpotech have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing a local threading capacity for VAM products of the group. The implementation is scheduled for the end of 2026, with an expected operational start in the first quarter of 2027.
This collaboration fits into Vallourec's strategy to provide localized access to its premium solutions and to strengthen its industrial relations with major oil service companies in India. The partnership relies on a reduced capital model while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
A Response to the Changing Geography of the Oil Sector
Over the past decade, more than 50% of the manufacturing activities of major oil service companies have shifted from North America to the Eastern Hemisphere, particularly in the Mumbai region. This reorganization combines a competitive industrial base with strategic proximity to Middle Eastern markets.
By partnering with Ultra Corpotech, a globally established industrial player, Vallourec supports this shift while managing operational risks and limiting its investment. For Ultra Corpotech, the integration of VAM technology through a dedicated threading unit offers access to the premium segment with significant gains in operational efficiency and competitiveness.
Comments from the Partners
Jérôme Favre, Senior Vice President of Vallourec in charge of the OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods), Services and Accessories branch, stated: 'This agreement marks a significant step in Vallourec's strategy to develop localized access to its premium VAM solutions and build closer industrial relations with major oil service clients in India. This collaboration allows both partners to quickly meet customer demand with controlled industrial risks and a limited investment footprint.'
Ashok Bhosle, CEO of Ultra Corpotech, commented: 'Ultra is thrilled to partner with Vallourec to foster a stronger and more sustainable collaboration. This strategic alliance strengthens Ultra's commitment to providing turnkey integrated solutions to the oil service industry.'
