Vinci Completes Acquisition of Fletcher Construction, Bolstering Its Presence in New Zealand
On Friday, Vinci finalized the acquisition of Fletcher Construction, a subsidiary of the New Zealand group Fletcher Building, announced in January 2026. This move strengthens the French construction giant's position in a rapidly expanding infrastructure market.
A Major Acquisition for the New Zealand Sector
Vinci Construction has completed the acquisition of Fletcher Construction, a company founded in 1909. The acquired company employs more than 2,300 staff in New Zealand and generates an annual turnover of approximately €630 million (NZ$1.3 billion). It primarily operates in hydraulic, maritime, port, airport, rail, and road works, with growing activity in renewable energies. The acquisition, announced on January 20, 2026, was finalized on Friday and is part of Vinci Construction's regional expansion strategy in New Zealand over the past several years.
Strengthened Local Network in the Region
Alongside HEB Construction (acquired in 2015 in Auckland), SOL (Christchurch), and Wharehine (North Island, acquired in 2025), Fletcher Construction helps to consolidate Vinci Construction's local network. This group of subsidiaries positions the French group as a major player in the New Zealand infrastructure market. In 2025, Vinci's activities in New Zealand generated a combined turnover of more than €830 million, reflecting the growing importance of this region in the group's portfolio.
