Wendel stock among the strongest declines in the SBF 120, down 11.5% in one month
Despite the completion on Thursday of a major disposal, Wendel is experiencing a sharp decline this Friday, in a Parisian market under budget pressure. The investment holding is among the rare SBF 120 stocks deepening its losses while the index advances slightly in trading, a sign of momentum specific to the security.
A decline of nearly 4% as the Stahl disposal has just been completed
The Wendel stock retreats 3.87% to €75.80 during the session, after closing at €78.85 the previous day. The decline is part of a downward trend over the week (-6.42% over seven days) and over the month (-11.45%), without today's positive operational news being sufficient to reverse this movement. Indeed, the sale of Stahl to Henkel, completed on October 1st on the basis of an enterprise value of €2.1 billion and generating net proceeds of approximately €1.14 billion, was not enough to halt the decline.
The security remains penalized by a deteriorated Parisian context: the 10-year OAT reaches 4.90% (Banque de France survey of October 1st, 2026, at the highest level of the series since 2004), and the spread with the Bund reaches 1.30 points, an unprecedented level since May 2012. The 2027 finance bill, submitted on October 1st to the National Assembly with a target deficit of 5% of GDP and uncertain adoption, could sustain a general risk premium on French assets. CIC Market Solutions maintains its buy rating on the security this Friday, with an unchanged price target of €115.00, representing an upside potential of more than 51% compared to the current price.
Three moving averages above the price, RSI at 31: technical pressure intensifies
On the indicators front, the situation of Wendel is clearly oriented downward. The security is trading at €75.80, approximately 8.66% below its 20-day moving average (€82.99), 10.26% below its 50-day MA (€84.47) and 9.37% below its 200-day MA (€83.64): the three moving averages converge within a narrow range (€82.99-€84.47), forming a compact technical ceiling above the price. The RSI at 31 is approaching the oversold threshold, reflecting the accumulated selling exhaustion over recent weeks without a reversal signal for the time being.
The security is far from its resistance threshold at €86.70, and the support level at €78.85 — the previous day's closing price — has already broken during the session. Upon the publication of the first half of 2026 (July 30th, 2026), the group confirmed a target of over €200 million in pro forma FRE for the year, and anticipated approximately €1.65 billion in disposal proceeds (Stahl and IHS) to finance growth and shareholder returns. The share buyback program, endowed with €340 million and executed at approximately 11% by late July 2026, constitutes fundamental support for the security in this correction context.
