Airbus Secures First Order for its U030 Flexrotor Drone in Canada
Airbus Helicopters and Voyageur Aviation have signed an agreement for the first order of the tactical drone Airbus U030 Flexrotor in Canada. Signed at Farnborough on July 21, 2026, this contract establishes Voyageur as the official launch customer for this platform in the Canadian market.
Memorandum of Understanding Signed in May Precedes the Agreement
The agreement follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Airbus and Voyageur in May 2026 at the CANSEC expo, aimed at supporting Canada's defense objectives. Voyageur Aviation, a Canadian airline operator, thus becomes the first operator of the Flexrotor in the country.

The Airbus U030 Flexrotor is a tactical drone with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities designed for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions. It has a maximum mass of 25 kg and offers an operational endurance of 12 hours or more in standard configuration. The system performs fully autonomous launch and recovery maneuvers from an area of 3.7 by 3.7 meters, using either land or sea as deployment points.
Its capabilities allow for the integration of electro-optical systems and advanced sensors, making it suitable for navigating Arctic ice, wildfire monitoring, infrastructure surveillance, and law enforcement operations.
Voyageur, Reference Operator for the Canadian Market
