Airbus Shares Climb Nearly 4%, Boosted by Easing Oil Prices
The European aerospace manufacturer makes a strong move in mid-morning trading, in a Parisian market trending upwards. The relaxation of oil prices linked to the ceasefire agreement in the Middle East is giving a breath of fresh air to cyclicals exposed to jet fuel. The stock is approaching its long-term moving averages after several weeks of consolidation.
US-Iran Agreement Causes Brent to Fall, Relieving Aerospace Stocks
Airbus shares are up 3.65% at €185.82, among the strongest gains in the CAC 40, which is up 1.07% during the session. The stock benefits directly from the announcement of a framework agreement between Washington and Tehran extending the ceasefire by 60 days and planning the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Brent has fallen by about 4% to $83.6 per barrel in early Asian trading, after more than three months of partial blocking of oil flows.
This energy relaxation relieves airline customers of aircraft manufacturers, whose jet fuel bills weigh on investment capacities. The movement is part of a broader rebound of cyclicals exposed to energy, with Saint-Gobain, Stellantis, Renault, and Safran also leading the Parisian index. The VIX is down 5.6% at 16.69, signaling a returning appetite for risk in financial markets.
The Stock Recovers 7% Above Its MM50 and Approaches the MM200
At €185.82, the stock is now 6.84% above its 20-day moving average (€173.93) and 7.39% above the MM50 (€173.03), reflecting the recovery that has been underway since mid-May (monthly gain of 7.57%). However, the price is encountering resistance at the MM200 at €189.50, remaining slightly below this long-term reference (a gap of -1.94%) which coincides with the resistance identified at €188.50. The RSI at 56 remains neutral, without an overbought configuration despite today's rebound, and the positive MACD (1.39 against 1.18 for the signal line) confirms the short-term bullish momentum.
In terms of industrial news, the group has been making consecutive announcements since the ILA Berlin Air Show, including a €345 million contract with Thales Alenia Space announced on June 10 for the Sentinel-1 NG radars, and several defense partnerships.
