Airbus Shares Fall 2.46% Despite New Commercial Orders
The stock of the European aircraft manufacturer closed lower this Friday, going against several positive commercial announcements.
Stock Performance Details
The stock closed at €200.40, down 2.46% from the previous day when it was at €205.45. This decline occurred after reaching a weekly high of €206.95. Over the week, the decrease stands at 2.08%, which moderates a medium-term momentum that remained very favorable with an increase of 10.72% over three months and 48.48% over a year. The traded volumes accounted for 0.14% of the capital, a moderate level that does not indicate a panic movement but rather an adjustment phase after the recent sharp rise. The CAC 40 itself fell by 0.18%, weighed down by the drop in the European banking sector, but Airbus amplified this downward movement.
Positive Commercial Announcements
The day was marked by several positive commercial announcements. Indian airline IndiGo formalized a firm order for an additional 30 A350-900 aircraft, finalizing a memorandum of understanding signed in June and bringing the total number of A350s ordered by this company to 60. Additionally, Germany confirmed the purchase of 20 Eurofighters for an amount of €3.75 billion, maintenance included, with deliveries scheduled between 2031 and 2034. Finally, Korean Air signed an agreement to adopt the Skywise Fleet Performance+ predictive maintenance solution developed by the aircraft manufacturer. Despite these contracts, the stock did not benefit from these announcements, suggesting that investors preferred to secure their gains after the strong performance recorded in recent months.
Technical Analysis
From a technical standpoint, the RSI is at 72, a level that indicates an overbought situation and signals that the stock might need a consolidation phase. However, the stock remains well-positioned above its 50-day (€190.45) and 200-day (€170.79) moving averages, which indicates a preserved underlying bullish trend. The Bollinger Bands, ranging from €191.40 to €208.01, frame the current price and indicate contained volatility in the recent period. The MACD histogram, slightly negative at -0.15, suggests a slight weakening of the bullish momentum in the very short term, without reversing the medium-term trend which remains upward.
