Dassault Aviation Joins $200 Million Series B Funding for Harmattan AI
Dassault Aviation has participated in the $200 million Series B funding round for Harmattan AI, according to the statement released this Sunday. Founded in 2024, Harmattan AI has positioned itself in the development of integrated autonomous systems, covering air defense, intelligence and strike drones, as well as electronic warfare. The company reports having already delivered several thousand autonomous robotic systems under programs awarded by the French and British Defense Ministries. The raised funds will be used to expand the deployment of missions integrating artificial intelligence into new theaters of operations, to broaden the product offering into new areas, and to increase the production capacity of its intelligence, drone interception, and electronic warfare platforms, the statement specifies.
Partnership Aims to Enhance AI Capabilities in Future Aerial Combat Systems
The partnership between the two groups aims to facilitate the development by Harmattan AI of embedded artificial intelligence functions within Dassault Aviation's future aerial combat systems, including the Rafale F5 and the unmanned aerial combat systems UCAS, according to the statement. These AI functions will notably be used for the control of unmanned aerial systems. Dassault Aviation states that this collaboration is part of a global strategy to integrate sovereign, controlled, and supervised artificial intelligence within its combat systems. The manufacturer will bring its expertise in systems architecture for complex military platforms, in mission systems integration in high-intensity environments, as well as its international commercial network to support the development of Harmattan AI, the group specifies.
Dassault Aviation's Strong Market Presence and Future Prospects
Dassault Aviation, which employs 14,600 staff, achieved a turnover of 6.2 billion euros in 2024, according to the statement. The group has delivered more than 10,000 military and civilian aircraft to over 90 countries over the past century. Its portfolio includes the Rafale combat aircraft, the Falcon family of high-end business jets, as well as military drones and space systems. Harmattan AI, on the other hand, reports delivering thousands of systems each month and has already deployed its technologies with several NATO partners and allied countries. The company is experiencing a global scale-up, driven by increasing demand, according to the statement.
