Dassault Aviation: France has decided to support its Vortex reusable spaceplane
Dassault Aviation welcomed, in a press release issued on September 10, 2026, France's decision to support its Vortex reusable orbital spaceplane project. The decision was announced by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, at the International Space Summit organized in Paris.
According to the group, this decision will make it possible to strengthen Europe's skills and operational capabilities in space.
Vortex, reusable spaceplane for civil and military missions
Designed by Dassault Aviation, which ensures its architecture and overall integration, Vortex is presented as a reusable spaceplane adapted to civil and military orbital missions.
The manufacturer indicates that its development will take place as part of a partnership with German company OHB, which was the subject of a joint press release on May 11, 2026.

Several European actors in aeronautics and space have joined the project, including APCO Technologies, MT Aerospace, Sener, Sonaca and Space Cargo Unlimited.
"This project, supported by France, must lead several countries (Germany and others) to join this ambition for mastering mobility in space," declared Éric Trappier, Chief Executive Officer of Dassault Aviation.
