Heineken Appoints Romain Apert as Chief Digital & Technology Officer
Heineken announced on Thursday the appointment of Romain Apert as Chief Digital & Technology Officer and member of the Executive Team, effective May 15, 2026. He succeeds Ronald den Elzen, who is leaving the company after a 31-year tenure.
Leadership Transition
Romain Apert, currently the Chief Information Officer for Petcare at Mars, will assume his new role as Chief Digital & Technology Officer at Heineken on May 15, 2026. He will join the company's Executive Team. Ronald den Elzen, who has held the position since March 2020, will depart after announcing last year his intention to seek new professional and educational opportunities. He has facilitated the transition until now.
Professional Background of Romain Apert
Romain Apert has spent over two decades at Mars, where he has held various global CIO positions. As Chief Information Officer for Petcare, he led a multi-year digitalization strategy that included modernizing ERP systems, establishing robust databases, and enhancing skill sets. An engineer by training with a degree from ECAM Lyon, he has international experience across Europe, the UK, and the USA.
