The cosmetics giant is pausing in trading, in a Paris market clearly trending lower. This pullback follows a rally that pushed the stock to levels not seen in several years.

L'Oréal shares fall 2.5% after a two-year high at €445.85

A 2.5% decline after a high of €445.85 reached on Wednesday

L'Oréal shares are down 2.61% at €443.70, while the CAC 40 loses 1.43% and the SBF 120 is down 1.44%. The stock ranks near the bottom of the flagship index but remains far from its lows: it still shows an 18.81% gain over one month and 4.52% over the week. This move follows the two-year high of €445.85 reached on November 4, a few days after quarterly results that were better than expected.

The Paris session takes place against a backdrop of a sharp global correction: the Nasdaq dropped 5.52% on Thursday, the Nikkei fell 5.96% this morning, and the VIX jumped to 26.44.

Despite the drop, the stock remains well above its three moving averages: the MM20 at €420.29 (gap of +5.57%), the MM50 at €396.40 (gap of +11.93%), and the MM200 at €380.32 (gap of +16.66%). The RSI at 66 is approaching overbought territory, signaling a stock that has risen sharply in a short period.

On the fundamental side, the group published revenue of €35.33 billion for the first nine months on October 22, up 6.9% on a like-for-like basis, with third-quarter revenue of €11.56 billion above consensus, despite a decline in Mexico.

At this level, resistance at €455.60 remains the nearest benchmark in case of a rebound, while support at €371.75 is far away.
