Kering stock rebounds but remains below its moving averages, RSI at 35
The Parisian luxury group is regaining ground this Friday, after several weeks of downward pressure that have heavily weighed on its valuation. The rebound comes as two brokerage houses have lowered their price targets, but maintain a positive view on the stock.
A session rebound that does not close out a month of sharp decline
The Kering stock gains 1.58% to €237.85 during the session, ranking among the strongest gains on the CAC 40 this Friday. The move is part of a Paris index also oriented upward (+0.61%), without the security recovering its early August levels: over one month, the decline still reaches 16.07%. The price remains below its three moving averages, with a gap of 5.34% below the 20-day MA at €251.28, 7.71% below the 50-day MA at €257.72, and 10.40% below the 200-day MA at €265.45.
The RSI at 35 reflects the selling exhaustion accumulated in recent weeks and places the stock in territory close to oversold, without the critical threshold of 30 being touched. The support at €232.25 remains the low reference to monitor, less than 2.4% below the current price.
Two downward target revisions but buy ratings maintained
Two revisions of analyst ratings weigh on the session backdrop. CIC Market Solutions lowered its price target today from €340 to €320, while maintaining its buy opinion. HSBC, for its part, revised its target from €340 to €305 on September 9, with a buy rating. Even revised downward, these targets display significant upside potential compared to the current price: 34.6% for CIC Market Solutions' target, and 28.2% for HSBC's.
These adjustments echo the first half 2026 results, published on July 29, which revealed a net income attributable to the group down 60% to 189 million euros and a 5% decline on a comparable basis in Gucci's revenue. The group had then expressed its desire to return to growth and improve profitability, in a context where jewelry-gold demand in China was declining 10.1% year-over-year in July. On the basis of expected earnings per share, the stock trades according to the consensus of surveyed analysts at approximately 23.9 times the earnings of the following fiscal year, a valuation that reflects the uncertainties weighing on the luxury momentum.
