Société Générale stock rebounds 2% but remains down 20% over three months
The bank headquartered in La Défense regains ground at close, in a CAC 40 that is also advancing. This recovery comes after several weeks of decline, three days before the publication of its quarterly results.
A rebound that leaves the share far from its moving averages
Société Générale stock gains 2.03% and closes at €60.87, ranking eighth in a CAC 40 up 0.83%. This movement does not change the underlying picture: the share is still down nearly 15% over one month and 20.2% over three months, taking into account the dividend paid. The price is 4.88% below the 20-day moving average and 14.14% below the 200-day moving average, which measures the extent of the ground covered since summer. The RSI at 32 remains close to the oversold zone, following a weekly decline of 5.58%.
The share has been trading ex-dividend since October 5, following the detachment of a dividend of €0.75. This mechanical decline explains nothing about today's trading session, and the performances cited already incorporate it. In a Paris market where tension on French debt remains strong, with a 10-year OAT at 4.93% according to the latest Banque de France figures, the banking sector remains under the watchful eye of investors.
