LVMH Stock Falls 2% and Becomes the Worst Performer on the CAC 40
LVMH is recording the steepest decline on the CAC 40 in mid-session on Wednesday, August 5th, in an index that remains nearly stable. The decline reflects a deteriorated technical configuration, as the group had published its half-year results at the end of July.
Worst Performer on the CAC 40, the Stock Drops 2% Below its Three Moving Averages
The LVMH stock is losing 2.06% to €475 in trading, making the luxury conglomerate the most declining value on the CAC 40, while the Paris index is trading nearly flat (-0.04%). The stock is trading below its three moving averages: it is quoting 1.21% below the MA20 (€480.80) and 2.32% below the MA50 (€486.26), while the MA200 (€535.06) remains more than 11% above the current price. This positioning reflects sustained selling pressure over several weeks, which is not contradicted by recent performance: the stock has fallen 4.18% over one month, despite a rebound of 1% over seven days.
The MACD remains negative, with a signal line at -6.45 and a MACD line at -4.79, although the histogram has moved back into positive territory (1.65) signaling a slight slowdown in downward pressure. The RSI at 52 remains neutral. The nearest support level is at €453.55, while resistance is at €503.10.

Published first half-year 2026 results on July 27th, they showed organic growth of +3% in the second quarter, driven by Fashion and Leather Goods in the United States and a rebound in Jewelry (+11% on an organic basis). However, half-year revenue, at €38.6 billion, declined 3% on a reported basis due to unfavorable currency effects. The group also noted an impact of -1 percentage point of organic growth linked to the Middle East conflict, and a decline in Perfumes and Cosmetics.
In this context, the luxury sector is facing mixed macroeconomic indicators: jewelry sales in China fell 3.4% year-over-year in June 2026, even though total Chinese retail trade is growing 1%. Relative to the consensus of analysts on LVMH, today's decline brings the price near the support level of €453.55, a level to monitor in the coming sessions should selling pressure persist.
