Orange share falls nearly 2%, lagging the CAC 40 after -13% in three months
The telecoms operator's stock extends a decline that began since the start of the academic year, in a Paris market clearly oriented downward. Monday's session comes as French debt and weekend social tensions weigh on index values.
A decline exceeding that of the index and a quarter at -13%
The Orange share falls 1.89% to €14.29 during the session, more than the CAC 40, which declines by 1.33%. The stock thus ranks at the bottom of the index classification, far from rising values such as Euronext or Dassault Systèmes. The decline extends an longstanding movement, as the share shows -13.21% over three months and remains below its 50-day moving average (-5.36% gap) as well as its 200-day moving average (-13.45%).
It nevertheless maintains a lead of 1.42% over its 20-day moving average, which last week's rebound had allowed it to recover. European telecoms follow the same trend: Telefónica falls 1% in Madrid and Deutsche Telekom 1% in Frankfurt, while Telecom Italia loses 0.66%.
French context weighs on the market, while the group raised its targets
The Paris Stock Exchange declined on Monday following weekend violence in several French cities, as the 10-year OAT rate, at 4.79% according to the latest Bank of France reading from October 16, approaches its highest level. The group itself had raised its annual targets upon publication of H1 2026 results on July 28, 2026, citing 13.9% growth in its revenue in Africa and the Middle East. Among the risks mentioned on that occasion was the 3.1% decline in Orange Business. The PISCES submarine cable project, announced on October 14, extends the group's infrastructure activities. On the technical side, the support level at €13.71 is situated approximately 4% below the current price.
