Philippine Airlines Takes Delivery of Its First A350-1000
Philippine Airlines has taken delivery of its first A350-1000 aircraft, becoming the tenth airline worldwide to operate this long-haul version, according to a press release from Airbus published this Sunday.
First of Nine A350-1000 Aircraft Delivered to Philippine Airlines
This delivery marks the first of a total order of nine A350-1000s that Philippine Airlines will receive as part of its fleet expansion program, states the European manufacturer. The delivered aircraft is configured in three classes with 382 seats and is set to be deployed on the national carrier's transpacific routes. According to Airbus, this long-haul aircraft will allow the carrier to expand its transpacific network with non-stop services to major destinations in North America. The A350-1000 will complement the A350-900s already in service in the Philippine Airlines fleet, which currently operates routes to the United States. This acquisition is part of the airline's strategy to strengthen its wide-body fleet, aiming to increase its capacity on long-haul routes.
A350-1000: The Largest Version in the A350 Family
The A350-1000 is the largest version of the A350 family developed by Airbus. According to the manufacturer, this aircraft incorporates next-generation technologies and advanced aerodynamics. The latest engines and the use of lightweight materials give the A350 a 25% advantage in terms of fuel consumption, operating costs, and carbon dioxide emissions compared to previous generation competitor aircraft, according to Airbus. The aircraft also features an Airspace cabin with wide seats, high ceilings, and ambient lighting. All A350 aircraft can already operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel, the release notes. Airbus aims for full compatibility with this type of fuel by 2030.
A350 Family Amasses Nearly 1,500 Orders Worldwide
By the end of November 2025, the A350 family had accumulated nearly 1,500 orders from 66 customers worldwide, according to data released by Airbus. The aircraft manufacturer positions this aircraft as the leader of long-haul wide-body airplanes in the global market. Philippine Airlines thus joins a select group of carriers operating the 1000 version of this aircraft. This delivery occurs in a context of long-haul fleet renewal by many international carriers, favoring more fuel-efficient aircraft and meeting the aviation sector's emission reduction goals.
