Safran's Stock Breaks Through Its Technical Support at 272.50 Euros After a 9% Weekly Decline
Safran faces a significant drop this Friday, amid a weakened Parisian market environment. The stock loses more than 3% and reaches the 270 euro zone, a level not tested for several weeks. The publication of the Q1 2026 results, which occurred the day before, continues to weigh on the stock's value.
Current Session Performance
During the session, Safran falls by 3.05% to 270.50 euros, after having already closed at 279 euros the previous day. Over the past week, the decline reaches 9.29%, and the underperformance over three months is at 12.85%. The entire Parisian industrial sector suffers: Airbus drops 2.78% and Schneider Electric loses 1.47%. The CAC 40, during the session, falls by 1.05% to 8,141 points. This selling pressure comes as Jefferies downgraded its recommendation on April 22nd from 'buy' to 'hold', while lowering its price target from 350 to 310 euros. Despite this downward revision, the new target still suggests a potential revaluation of about 15% from the current price. The publication of quarterly results, scheduled in the financial calendar on April 23rd, seems to have crystallized disappointments, amplifying the corrective movement started in recent sessions.
Technical Analysis
Technically, the stock is trading well below its main moving averages. The price of 270.50 euros is more than 12% below the 50-day moving average (310.41 euros) and nearly 10% below the 200-day moving average (299.83 euros), indicating a bearish momentum established for several weeks. The positioning within the Bollinger Bands confirms this reading: the price hovers near the lower boundary set at 262.59 euros, which is at the bottom of the range (12% of the range), a zone generally associated with a potential oversold state. The upper boundary is at 326.80 euros. The nearest support threshold, at 272.50 euros, was breached during the session, which could pave the way for a test of the lower Bollinger boundary if selling pressure persists. Despite this difficult sequence, the stock still shows a year-on-year increase of 23.29%.
