ABN AMRO completes the sale of Alfam to Rabobank, creating Sprankr

A completed sale following the regulator's green light

ABN AMRO has completed the sale of Alfam to Rabobank, with effect from 1 November 2026. With regulatory approval obtained and all conditions relating to the transaction lifted, the deal is now final.

The bank presents this step as the start of a new phase. Alfam and Freo, Rabobank's credit business, now operate together within a new organisation called Sprankr.

Defam and Freo maintained, Lendris launched by both banks

According to ABN AMRO, little will change for customers in the immediate term. The Defam and Freo brands, already known to customers, continue to operate.

In parallel, ABN AMRO and Rabobank are introducing Lendris, a new brand through which customers will be able to submit a loan application to either of the two banks. The stated objective is to ensure continued access to specialised advice and responsible lending.

Continuity for customers and employees as a priority

With the transaction formally completed, the coming period will be devoted to a carefully managed transition and to continuity for customers, employees and business partners.
