Air France-KLM Stock: Over 3% Decline Despite Upward Revision of Targets

Goodbody CF and Barclays both updated their assessments of Air France-KLM this Tuesday. Irish broker Goodbody CF raised its target from 11.80 to 12.40 euros, while maintaining a 'hold' recommendation. At this level, the target is about 2.5% below the current price of 12.72 euros, indicating a limited upside potential as seen by the analyst. On the other hand, Barclays increased its target from 9.90 to 11.00 euros, but took a much more cautious stance with an 'underweight' recommendation. The gap between the British bank's target and today's price represents a negative deviation of about 13.5%. These revisions reflect a mechanical adjustment to the recent stock performance of the airline, which has surged nearly 50% over the year, without necessarily showing particular enthusiasm for the remaining potential.

Today's session marks a reversal after several weeks of sustained growth. The price of Air France-KLM encountered resistance at 13.14 euros, exactly matching the previous day's closing level, before significantly dropping. This pullback brings the stock close to the upper Bollinger Band at 13.20 euros, a zone that had already acted as a technical ceiling in recent days. The Relative Strength Index (RSI), currently at 69, remains close to the overbought threshold of 70, indicating that the recent upward momentum could temporarily lose steam. However, the 20, 50, and 200-day moving averages — at 11.65, 11.44, and 11.14 euros respectively — all remain significantly below the current price, confirming a medium-term upward trend. The upcoming quarterly results, expected on April 30, will be a potential catalyst that could determine the stock's direction beyond this consolidation phase.
