BioMérieux: Third-Quarter Sales Up 8.1%, 2026 Targets Confirmed
On November 3, 2026, BioMérieux reported third-quarter revenue of €1,042 million, up 8.1% at constant exchange rates and scope, while cumulative organic growth over nine months stood at 2.7%.
The gap reflects an acceleration from one quarter to the next: organic growth moved from a decline of 3.9% in the first quarter to an increase of 5.0% in the second.
The quarter came in above the average of the three analysts in the consensus, who had expected €1.01 billion. The group confirmed its 2026 targets, despite a further decline in sales of Biofire respiratory panels, which the company attributes to lower circulation of respiratory pathogens than in 2025.
Organic Growth Accelerates Every Quarter in 2026
Over the first nine months, sales reached €3,006 million, compared with €2,992 million a year earlier, a limited increase of 0.5% on a reported basis.
The difference from organic growth is due to currency effects, which were negative by €73 million over the period. The group attributes them to the appreciation of the euro against the dollar, the Indian rupee and the yen.
For the third quarter alone, reported growth reached 9.9%, above organic growth of 8.1%. The acceleration is based on the growth drivers of the GO-28 strategic plan, whose sales rose 13% over the quarter.
At the half-year results publication on July 28, 2026, the group reported organic growth of 6% for these same drivers.
Non-Respiratory Panels and Microbiology Drive the Quarter
Clinical applications, which account for 84% of revenue, grew 8% on an organic basis. Within the Biofire range (€360.3 million), sales of non-respiratory panels jumped 25%, supported by demand for the gastrointestinal panel linked to the cyclosporiasis outbreak in the United States. Excluding this effect, their increase is about 15%.
Conversely, Biofire respiratory panels fell 8% over the quarter. Overall, Biofire grew 8.2% in the third quarter, while the range remains down 3.0% organically over nine months. The Spotfire range reached €39 million (+20.5%), with more than 900 installations and an installed base of nearly 8,200 instruments.
Microbiology (€367.4 million) grew 8.4%, driven by the Vitek and Bact/Alert solutions, a stabilization in China and price effects. Industrial applications (16% of revenue) gained 8.6%, while immunoassays remained stable (-0.5%), held back by China and procalcitonin.
By region, North America (45% of sales) posted an increase of 12.1%, compared with 2.7% over nine months. Latin America grew 12.6%, the Europe, Middle East and Africa region 3.7%, and Asia-Pacific 4.6%, with growth of 8% excluding China.
2026 Targets Maintained, Currency Effect on ROCC Revised to About -€35 Million
For 2026, BioMérieux still targets organic sales growth between 3% and 5%. The lower bound relies on the assumption that respiratory epidemiology in the fourth quarter will be comparable to that of the same quarter in 2025. Cumulative organic growth at the end of September (+2.7%) is below this lower bound.
Contributory operating income (ROCC), an indicator specific to the group, is expected to show organic growth between 0% and 10%. The expected currency effect on ROCC is now estimated at about -€35 million, compared with a previous range of -€40 million to -€50 million.
On the regulatory front, the Biofire Spotfire Vaginitis panel, filed with the FDA as indicated in the July publication, received 510(k) clearance and CLIA waiver on October 22, 2026. The group also launched the high-sensitivity troponin I test on its Spinchip platform in Europe on September 24.
On October 29, 2026, the Paris Court of Appeal upheld the dismissal of all claims against BioMérieux in the Lyme disease testing case, a ruling that may be subject to appeal.
The quarter confirms a shift of growth toward non-respiratory panels, microbiology and industry, while respiratory epidemiology determines the lower bound of the annual targets.
