Bouygues Share Falls 7.5% Over One Month Despite Berenberg's Bullish Bet
The construction, telecommunications and media conglomerate's stock declines during Thursday's session, even as Berenberg initiates coverage today with a buy rating and an ambitious price target. The backdrop remains heavy for the entire CAC 40, down more than 1% at midday, amid political uncertainty surrounding the 2027 budget.
Berenberg Enters the Fray with a Buy Rating and a 55€ Target, Barclays Lowers Its Target to 52€
Two analyst views frame Thursday's trading session on Bouygues. Berenberg initiates coverage with a buy rating and a price target of 55€, representing an upside potential of nearly 35% compared to the current price of 40.82€. At the same time, Barclays revised its target downward on September 30, reducing it from 54 to 52€, with its rating unspecified.
These two positions illustrate a divergent reading of the value, while the analyst consensus remains globally above the price, having lost more than 16% over three months. Upon the publication of H1 2026 results (July 31, 2026), the company had confirmed its target for the year of revenue stability at constant exchange rates and a maintenance of current operating income at a historically elevated level.
An RSI in Oversold Territory at 28 with the Price Significantly Below Its Three Moving Averages
On the technical indicators front, the stock's configuration is particularly deteriorated. The RSI at 28 signals a marked oversold zone, close to levels that had preceded technical rebounds in the past. The price at 40.82€ stands below the 20-day MA (43.72€, gap of -6.63%), the 50-day MA (45.75€, gap of -10.78%) and the 200-day MA (48.08€, gap of -15.10%): the three moving averages weigh overhead, forming a technical ceiling that the stock has not surpassed for several weeks. The decline from the 42€ threshold, broken downward the day before, intensifies downward pressure in the short term.
The construction sector is suffering from difficult market conditions, with public works contracts down 27.6% over three months according to available sector data. Vinci and Eiffage, comparable stocks, decline by 1.78% and 0.99% respectively during the session, confirming the sector's weakness. Resistance at 46.70€ remains the hurdle to overcome for any recovery attempt.
