CDN77: CVC fund enters the capital of Czech content delivery specialist
Private assets manager CVC is investing in CDN77, a Czech company specializing in online content delivery. The transaction, whose financial terms have not been disclosed, still requires regulatory approvals.
Capital entry through Strategic Opportunities
CDN77 announced on September 23, 2026 that it had selected CVC as a partner for the next phase of its development. The investment is made through Strategic Opportunities, CVC's long-term investment platform, which will take a minority stake in the company. Founder and Chief Executive Officer Zdeněk Cendra, who created the company in 2011, retains majority ownership and remains in charge. The majority of the management team, present from the outset, remains in place for this new phase. CDN77 designs and operates its own network, hardware platforms and software stack. The company serves video, video gaming, software and media platforms. Over the years, the company has developed a content delivery network present in more than 230 sites worldwide, with a capacity of 330 terabits per second. The financial terms of the transaction are not being disclosed, and completion remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Growth through infrastructure services development
Content delivery remains CDN77's core business and foundation. The new phase aims to add scale to this activity as well as to infrastructure services built around it: storage, edge computing and dedicated CPU/GPU infrastructure, for applications ranging from the lightest to the most bandwidth-intensive, including artificial intelligence workloads. Jakub Canda of CVC indicated that the company evaluated numerous technology companies and that its key asset lies in its teams and culture, rather than in its 230 sites. According to him, the objective is to allow Zdeněk Cendra and his team to focus on their customers while accelerating development. On the advisory front, Valouch Servus and Latham & Watkins acted as legal advisors to Zdeněk Cendra and CDN77, while White & Case and Ernst & Young advised CVC.
Another transaction for Strategic Opportunities
This transaction is part of a series of recent announcements from various CVC entities. On September 3, 2026, Unitex and CVC Strategic Opportunities concluded a strategic partnership. On March 4, 2025, CVC closed the third generation of its Strategic Opportunities fund at 4.61 billion euros. The group, listed on Euronext Amsterdam, has multiplied initiatives in recent weeks across its different strategies, from private equity to infrastructure.
