CMB.Tech divests tanker Stella and anticipates a gain of $59.6 million
In a fleet update published on October 13, 2026, the Antwerp-based shipowner indicated that the sale has already been completed, with the vessel handed over to its new owners. The gain will be recognized in the fourth quarter of 2026, following the publication of third-quarter results scheduled for November 26, 2026.
A 2011 tanker exiting the Euronav fleet
CMB.TECH sold the Stella, a Suezmax-type tanker built in 2011 with a carrying capacity of 165,000 deadweight tons. The vessel operates under Euronav, the brand under which the group consolidates its oil tankers.
According to the company, the transaction will generate a gain of approximately $59.6 million. This amount is calculated on the basis of the net sale price and the book value of the vessel.
The press release mentions only a single unit in this fleet update.
A gain consistent with the group's divestment program
When publishing its half-yearly report on September 3, 2026, CMB.TECH reported a net result of $733.2 million for the first half of 2026, compared to $32.8 million a year earlier. The group attributed the bulk of this increase to high freight rates and a sustained program of vessel sales.
The sale of the Stella adds to this series of disposals. Following the transaction, the group claims a combined fleet of approximately 235 ocean-going vessels, distributed among bulk carriers, crude oil tankers, chemical tankers, container ships and offshore energy vessels.
CMB.TECH, listed on Euronext Brussels, the NYSE and Euronext Oslo Børs, also offers its customers hydrogen and ammonia as fuels, sourced from its own production or that of third parties.
