Colruyt: Green-score certified and savings program renamed "Every Step Counts"

Green-score recognized as certified private label

Colruyt Group indicated that its Green-score meets, as of late September, the new legal requirements applicable to environmental labels. This independent certification is part of the new European EmpCo legislation. According to the group, it aims to guarantee consumers transparent and verifiable information, based on a methodology developed by an independent consortium, for which Colruyt Group obtained a license in 2021 in order to deploy it in Belgium. Launched in 2021 under the name Eco-score, the label assigns products a rating ranging from A+ to F, based on a life cycle analysis and complementary criteria. It is now visible on more than 4,800 products from private labels and 11,000 products from national brands, in stores, on Boni packaging as well as on the websites and applications of the group's stores.

Xtra savings program renamed "Every Step Counts"

Colruyt Group has renamed its savings program integrated into the Xtra application, now called "Every Step Counts". Based on the Green-score, the program allows customers to accumulate points when they choose products displaying a Green-score A+, A or B. These points can be exchanged in the application, in particular to support a cause of the Colruyt Group Foundation, receive a product in store, participate in a webinar or obtain a day pass at Jims. The group indicates that, last year, customers supported various causes more than 65,000 times. Colruyt Group specifies that it relies on an open and transparent methodology, and encourages brands and suppliers to share their data in order to refine the environmental assessment of products.
