CSG announces €49.7M for military production capacities at Kopřivnice
Industrial and technology group CSG is continuing its investment program at the Tatra Defence site in Kopřivnice, Czech Republic. The announced strategy focuses on developing production capacities dedicated to military land systems, with deployment scheduled over the next three years.
Two phases for 14,000 m² of new surfaces
CSG plans to invest approximately €49.7M in developing production capacities for military land systems and associated facilities. The operation will take place in two stages and will create a total of 14,000 m² of new production surfaces, as well as new administrative facilities. The first stage, already underway, concerns a production hall of 5,500 m² intended primarily for welding, together with new administrative and social facilities. The production part is expected to be in trial operation by December 2026, with the administrative part to be completed by April 2027. The second stage will add approximately 8,500 m² of production surface, focused on machining and painting, with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2028. According to Tomáš Mohapl, Chief Executive Officer of Tatra Defence, these funds will be directed, in addition to the new halls, towards machine tools, specialized measurement equipment, surface treatment technologies and facilities, and other production equipment.
Recruitment and coordination with Tatra Trucks
The expansion of capacities is accompanied by workforce reinforcement. The first stage includes a three-level administrative building offering capacity for more than 150 employees, with reception, canteen and social facilities on the ground floor. According to Adam Binar, Chief Operations Officer of Tatra Defence, the initial recruitment hypothesis of up to 300 new employees remains valid and should be achieved by the end of 2026. More than 550 people currently work in companies operating under the Tatra Defence brand, and the group plans to recruit more than 100 additional people for 2027. CSG is also conducting a development program at Tatra Trucks, located on the same industrial site. The construction projects of the two entities are coordinated to make best use of available land, infrastructure, networks and logistical connections. The development of the site will also concern the area adjacent to the Tatra Truck Museum, with facilities and parking capacities that should be at least partially accessible to museum visitors. According to the current plan, the project is subject to an agreement between CSG, the city of Kopřivnice, the museum and the Moravian-Silesian region, and preparatory work is expected by the end of 2026, following final approval at regional level.
