Fermentalg: revenue up 41% in the third quarter of 2026
After a slight decline in the first half, Fermentalg returned to growth in the third quarter of 2026. Its revenue rose 41% to €2.9 million, while cumulative revenue for nine months grew 6% to €10.3 million.
The gap between these two rates places the turnaround in the most recent reported period. The Libourne-based group published these figures on November 3, 2026 and states that it has the orders needed to accelerate further in the fourth quarter, subject to delivering the first volumes of its natural blue colorant.
A third quarter up 41% after a slight half-year decline
When it published its half-year accounts on October 6, 2026, Fermentalg reported revenue of €7.4 million, compared with €7.6 million a year earlier. The third quarter reverses this trend: for the first time, it brings cumulative nine-month revenue above €10 million.
Chief Executive Officer Pierre Josselin recalls that the company had indicated “after the summer break” its ambition to accelerate in the fourth quarter, and notes that this momentum appeared as early as the third quarter. He specifies that the company is now “focused on the levers to maintain course”, from research to production, including the sales teams.
Food supplements and infant nutrition drive growth
The growth is based on the ΩRIGINS range of lipids, marketed in high value-added segments. Sales intended for food supplements and infant nutrition rose 34% over the first nine months. They now account for more than one third of total revenue, i.e. 5 points more than in 2025.
Conversely, sales intended for aquaculture, a market on which Fermentalg says it positions itself based on opportunities, fell by nearly 60% at the end of September 2026. This decline did not prevent cumulative revenue from rising 6% over the period, as the business mix shifted toward nutrition.
A fourth quarter targeted at €5 million, linked to deliveries of the Galdieria Blue colorant
Fermentalg states that it has the order level needed to aim for revenue of €5 million in the fourth quarter of 2026, compared with €3.7 million a year earlier. However, this capacity relies on delivering, by year-end, the first bulk orders (several tonnes of ingredients) of Galdieria Blue, its natural blue colorant.
The company and its industrial partner are therefore concentrating their efforts on ramping up production. In its half-year publication of October 6, 2026, the group already cited the launch of Galdieria Blue production in 2026 among its opportunities.
For the full year, Fermentalg estimates it can generate revenue of at least €14 million, compared with €13.4 million in 2025. The growth achieved over nine months relies on lipids intended for nutrition, while the end-of-year target depends on a second product whose industrial production is being ramped up.
