Forvia share climbs 5.5% and posts best gain on SBF 120
The automotive equipment supplier posts the best performance on the broad Paris index at the end of August, in a session favourable to European markets. The rebound occurs as the share remains under pressure over longer horizons, with a still significant decline over three months.
Forvia leads SBF 120 with a jump of 5.58% approaching resistance at 9.58 €
In trading this Friday, Forvia displays the strongest gain on the SBF 120, with a gain of 5.58% to 9.08 €, compared to a close of 8.60 € the previous day. The share now trades near its 20-day moving average at 9.05 € and slightly above its 50-day moving average at 9.03 €, two levels it has just broken through with the same momentum. This progression brings it closer to the resistance threshold at 9.58 €, which represents the next zone to overcome to confirm short-term bullish momentum.
The RSI at 40, although below neutral, remains far from oversold territory. Today's movement takes place in a supportive market context: the CAC 40 gains nearly 1% in trading and the SBF 120 advances 0.92%, with a VIX at 14.49 indicating low volatility. Over the week, Forvia posts gains of nearly 3%, but the three-month balance remains degraded at -21.61%, which puts the scope of today's rebound into perspective.
High short interest against the backdrop of mixed half-year results published in late July
According to filed disclosures, four funds cumulatively hold 3.96% of Forvia's capital sold short, down 0.20 points over thirty days. This level remains significant: it indicates that a non-negligible fraction of institutional investors maintains a bearish bet on the value, even if the recent trend shows a slight reduction in these positions. A single session rebound is not sufficient in itself to reverse this signal.
As a reminder, the first-half 2026 results published on 31 July had highlighted divergent dynamics: while operating margin advanced to 6.0% and net cash flow surged 18.8% to 432 million euros, sales in China posted an organic decline of 14.8% in the second quarter, representing a 12-point underperformance on this market. Conversely, the Clarion division posted organic growth of 20.0% over the same period. Analyst views were then adjusted in both directions, with price targets revised both upwards and downwards in the days following the publication.
