Ipsen share rebounds 2% on support at €153.10
The biopharmaceutical laboratory stock rebounded during Tuesday's session, advancing among the strongest gains on the SBF 120 index in an almost stable Paris market. This rebound occurs nonetheless following a Jefferies downgrade published the previous day, which sets a price target significantly below the current price.
A technical rebound supported by the €153 level
The Ipsen share gained 2.09% to €156.30 during the session, rebounding from the support level at €153.10 tested the previous day. This level had already played its cushioning role during previous declines, and the stock is moving away from it upward again. The technical configuration remains however constrained: the price is trading below the 20-day moving average at €161.66 (difference of 3.32%) and below the 50-day moving average at €160.36 (difference of 2.53%), two averages that now constitute resistance levels to break through.
The next resistance is located at €170.80. The RSI at 41 remains in neutral territory, without marked selling exhaustion signals, but today's rebound only partially offsets the 8.44% decline recorded over the past month.
Jefferies downgrades Ipsen to 'underperform' with a target at €135
The previous day, Jefferies lowered its rating on Ipsen from 'hold' to 'underperform', setting a price target at €135, representing a potential decline of nearly 14% compared to the current price. This revision comes in a challenging context for the security: following the publication of first-half 2026 results on July 30, which had led to a session of sharp decline despite a substantial increase in annual guidance. During this publication, Ipsen had raised its 2026 targets to growth above 20% at constant exchange rates and operating margin of activities beyond 37%, compared to 13% and 35% previously.
Among the risks mentioned during this half-yearly publication was notably the potential arrival of generic versions of lanreotide, likely to weigh on Somatuline sales. The resistance at €170.80 remains the technical obstacle to watch on the stock's trajectory.
