KBC merges 365.bank and ČSOB in Slovakia: 1.4 million clients brought together
KBC Group has specified the timeline for bringing together its two Slovak entities. The transfer of all 365.bank activities to ČSOB will bring the bank's client base in Slovakia to approximately 1.4 million.
365.bank absorbed by ČSOB with no action required from clients
Following the acquisition of 365.bank completed earlier this year, KBC Group has announced that the legal merger of 365.bank and ČSOB will take place on November 1, 2026. As part of this process, all 365.bank activities will be transferred to ČSOB and 365.bank will cease to exist as a separate legal entity.
The company indicates that the transition will proceed without any action required from clients or immediate changes to products or services. From November 1, 2026 onwards, all 365.bank clients, including those from the former Poštová banka portfolio, will automatically become ČSOB clients.
Following the transaction, ČSOB will become Slovakia's second-largest bank in terms of client numbers, at approximately 1.4 million.
Two brands maintained until 2027 migration
The merged entity will continue to operate under both the ČSOB and 365.bank brands for several months, until the complete migration of 365.bank clients into ČSOB systems, currently scheduled for 2027. In the meantime, clients will still be able to purchase new 365.bank products.
Existing contractual relationships will remain valid and unchanged. Clients will be able to continue using their accounts, payment cards and online banking services without interruption, without needing to visit a branch.
The Poštová banka brand will continue to exist after the legal merger and will continue to operate as an organizational unit of ČSOB. Its technical integration is scheduled for 2027.
Approximately 20% market share targeted in personal lending
According to KBC Group, the merged entity is expected to hold approximately 20% market share in the residential mortgage lending sector. The transaction combines ČSOB's market position with 365.bank's distribution network, including its partnership with Slovak Post and its 1,300 points of sale across the country.
Johan Thijs, CEO of KBC Group, stated that Slovakia has been one of the Group's markets for nearly twenty years. Daniel Kollár, CEO of ČSOB Slovakia and 365.bank, clarified that major changes will be implemented during the migration scheduled for the following year.
