The French cosmetics giant marks the highest rise in the Paris index by mid-morning. The stock rebounds after a downgrade issued the previous day by a major German firm, amidst an otherwise hesitant market.
The Stock Soars to the Top of the CAC 40 Despite Deutsche Bank's Downgrade
L'Oréal gains 2.21% at €384.30, leading the CAC 40, ahead of STMicroelectronics (+2.11%) and Pernod Ricard (+1.95%). The Paris index itself only advances by 0.16%. The rebound occurs following a downgrade by Deutsche Bank, which shifted from 'hold' to 'sell' on June 23, lowering its price target from €360 to €340.
This new target indicates a potential decline of more than 11% from the current price, yet does not prevent the stock from reacting positively during the session. The sectoral context remains a support point: according to May 2026 data from China, retail sales of cosmetics show a year-on-year increase of 2.5%, while overall retail trade decreases by 0.6%, maintaining a favorable exposure for the group in one of its key markets.

Today's movement extends an already existing upward trend: the stock is up 6.26% over a month and 11.42% over three months. The price at €384.30 is above the three monitored moving averages, with a gap of 0.80% on the MM20 (€381.25), 4.04% on the MM50 (€369.36), and 3.41% on the MM200 (€371.63). The RSI at 49 remains in a neutral zone, without marked buying pressure, while the resistance identified at €390.25 is approaching, less than 1.6% from the current price.
In addition, the group has expanded its portfolio in June with the acquisition of a majority stake in Innovist in India and a partnership with OpenAI announced at VivaTech 2026. The €390 zone remains the next technical marker to watch.
