L'Oréal stock rises 1.53% and approaches its 50-day moving average at €382.93
The Paris-based cosmetics company is benefiting from renewed investor appetite at the end of the week, posting gains as the Paris index also advances during the session. The momentum contrasts with the selling pressure observed the previous day, although short-term moving averages continue to weigh on the technical chart configuration.
CIC Market Solutions raises its target to €420 and confirms its buy rating
L'Oréal stock gained 1.53% to €381.30 during Friday's session, ranking among the strongest gainers in the CAC 40, in a market up 0.94%. The rebound comes after CIC Market Solutions raised its price target on September 9 from €400 to €420, while maintaining its buy rating on the stock. At this level, the implicit upside potential exceeds 10% compared to the current price.
This move comes as the group had published its first-half 2026 results in late July with a record operating margin of 21.3%, and management had expressed its conviction to achieve "another year of revenue growth as well as improved profitability" despite a less favorable global context. On the macro front, the ECB raised its key rate to 2.50% on Thursday, a decision that L'Oréal, exposed to European consumer demand and financing costs, is monitoring closely. Additionally, cosmetics sales in China advanced 6.8% year-on-year in July 2026, a non-negligible support for a group whose exposure to the Chinese market remains substantial.
The price remains below the 20-day moving average and approaching the 50-day moving average, RSI at 42
From a technical standpoint, the situation remains under pressure despite today's rebound. The price at €381.30 is trading below the 20-day MA at €383.39 (spread of -0.55%) and approaching the 50-day MA at €382.93. The 200-day MA stands at €375.18, slightly below the current price, offering a relatively close floor. The RSI at 42 remains in neutral territory, far from the oversold configurations that had accompanied the April low.
The support identified at €370 is not immediately threatened, but the stock continues to struggle against its short-term moving averages, which are acting as dynamic resistance levels. The next resistance is located at €394, representing a gap of just over 3% from the current price. The MACD in slightly negative territory (-1.08 histogram) signals that the bullish momentum remains fragile at this point in the session.
