Nepi Rockcastle inaugurates a 56.2 MW solar park in Romania near Bucharest

A 56.2 MW park installed on 75.5 hectares

With an installed capacity of 56.2 MW, the park is presented by the group as one of the most important solar installations in the county. It spans 75.5 hectares and includes 90,000 bifacial solar panels.

The site is expected to produce approximately 73,000 MWh of renewable electricity per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 40,000 Romanian households according to the company. The group estimates that approximately 17,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions are avoided each year.

A second solar site following Chișineu-Criș, on a former mining site

This park adds to the group's first solar site, inaugurated the previous year in Chișineu-Criș (Arad County), in western Romania, as well as to the rooftop installations at its shopping centers. Two years earlier, before the construction of these solar parks, self-produced electricity (rooftop installations at shopping centers) covered 6% of the real estate company's needs.

The new park occupies a former mineral extraction site, where sheep from local farmers now graze between the rows of panels. It is designed to eventually accommodate a battery storage system.

The inauguration was held in the presence of Chief Executive Officer Marek Noetzel, Chief Financial Officer Eliza Predoiu, Development Director Andrei Radu and Energy Manager Andrei Horhoianu.
