Pernod Ricard share, laggard of the CAC 40, loses 8% over the week
One day after a decline of nearly 7%, the spirits group's share continues to lose ground, unable to bounce back while the CAC 40 advances by around 1%. Two brokerage houses revised their price targets on Friday, reflecting a repositioning of consensus following the publication of annual results.
Laggard of a rising CAC 40, the share breaks through its three moving averages
The Pernod Ricard share declined 1.95% to €63.24 during the session, marking the steepest fall in the CAC 40 while the Paris index gained nearly 1%. The contrast is striking: luxury and defensive stocks are driving the index upward, while the spirits group sinks alone into the red. Over the week, the decline exceeds 8%, reflecting the shock absorbed following the results for fiscal year 2025/26, published on August 27, 2026 and marked by an organic revenue decline of 3.9% due to failing American and Chinese markets. The share price is trading well below its three moving averages: the 20-day MA at €68.31 shows a gap of 7.42%, the 200-day MA at €69.93 of 9.57%, and the 50-day MA at €66.11 of 4.34%.
This uniform positioning below the three short, medium and long-term references outlines a consolidated bearish configuration. The RSI at 39 reflects persistent selling pressure, without reaching a clear oversold zone. The support level at €62.18 is now the next threshold to watch, approximately 1.7% below the current price.
RBC and Jefferies lower their targets, upside potential remains under pressure
On Friday, two brokerage houses adjusted their views on the share following the annual results. RBC Capital cut its price target from €90 to €61, moving to a "sector perform" rating: at €61, this target is now below the current price of €63.24, signaling at best a neutral view on the value. Jefferies maintains its buy rating but revises its target from €95 to €90. At this level, the implicit rebound potential compared to today's price exceeds 42%, which illustrates the gap between the target valuation of optimists and market reality following publication.
The consensus between these two views remains heterogeneous, between a target below the price and a target well above. Rémy Cointreau, the only comparable value available on the market, declined 0.34% during the session, a much more modest decline that highlights the singular pressure weighing on Pernod Ricard. The support level at €62.18 remains the level to watch until the end of the session.
