Pernod Ricard stock, laggard of the CAC 40, declines 1.5% following its sales
The spirits group is moving against the grain of a nearly stable Paris index. It ranks among the worst performers on the market, just days after the publication of its quarterly sales.
A decline that brings the stock back toward its 200-day moving average at 66.94 €
The Pernod Ricard stock is down 1.39% to 65.50 € at mid-morning and ranks among the steepest declines in the CAC 40, which is down 0.06%.
The stock remains above its 20-day moving average (64.12 €) and 50-day moving average (63.04 €), but falls below the 200-day moving average (66.94 €), at 2.15% below this long-term benchmark. This decline follows a rebound of nearly 11% over one month and represents a decline of 2.18% over the week.
Over one year, the security has declined 24.43%. The RSI at 53 remains neutral and signals no excess. The movement is consistent with the session of resistance broken at 66.60 € on October 16, which the price has since lost. At the same time, Rémy Cointreau is down 5.88% on Wednesday, having gained 11.7% over one month.
Quarterly sales down 0.9% and risks related to the United States and China
Pernod Ricard published on October 15 revenue of 2,234 M€ for the first quarter of its 2026/27 fiscal year, down 0.9% on an organic basis. The group describes a contrasting and uncertain environment.
Among the risks cited during this publication are U.S. sales down 10%, penalized by inventory adjustments, and a Chinese market declining 25%.
The group notes in contrast a return to growth in underlying sales in China ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and a 19% increase in India. The group also expects 1 billion euros in savings between fiscal years 2026 and 2028.
The analysts' views have been adjusted in the wake of these sales. The group also announced on October 20 a hybrid bond issuance to finance the buyback of seven existing tranches. The next technical level to watch is the 200-day moving average at 66.94 €.
