SBF 120 laggard, Medincell stock falls more than 5% despite Stifel upgrade
The Montpellier-based biopharmaceutical company is losing momentum on Tuesday, following an initial decline, after the surge triggered by the U.S. green light for an olanzapine formulation developed with Teva. The decline occurs as two brokerage houses have just raised their price targets and the stock remains well above its moving averages.
A decline that erases only a small portion of the week's rebound
Medincell stock is down 5.21% to €27.30 during trading, the largest decline in the SBF 120 while the index gains 0.27%. The stock had nevertheless surged following FDA approval of Weltruza, which entitles the company to up to $112 million in milestone payments according to the October 9, 2026 announcement. Over one week, the gain remains at 18.4%, and today's decline therefore erases only a fraction of it.
The share price is moreover holding at 14% above the 20-day and 50-day moving averages (around €23.90) and 10% above the 200-day moving average (€24.83). The RSI at 68 remains below the overbought threshold, which places this decline as a continuation of rapid gains rather than a reversal. The resistance level at €29.06 is approximately 6% above the current price.
Stifel and Portzamparc raise their price targets to €38.50 and €33.10
Two brokerage houses revised their targets upward on October 12. Stifel moves from €36.50 to €38.50 with a buy rating, representing potential of approximately 41% compared to today's price. Portzamparc raises its target from €31.40 to €33.10, also with a buy recommendation, which represents potential close to 21%.
According to the consensus of analysts surveyed, the stock trades at approximately 237 times the expected earnings for the current fiscal year and 53.5 times those for the following year. The analyst consensus thus remains well above the current price. The stock is trading in 2026 between a support level at €21.40 and resistance at €29.06, two technical reference points that frame the session.
