Stellantis stock plunges to 5-year low at €4.05
The stock of the multi-brand automaker (Peugeot, Fiat, Jeep) continues its decline in mid-morning trading, touching an unprecedented low not seen in five years. Fundamental pressure remains heavy, as CIC Market Solutions maintains its 'hold' rating with a target price implying significant upside potential from current levels.
New five-year low at €4.05 recorded during trading, well below moving averages
Mid-morning Thursday, Stellantis declines 1.85% to €4.06, after touching €4.05 during the session, its lowest level in five years. This floor erases the previous five-year record low, previously established at €4.06. Today's decline brings the monthly loss to 12.57% and the one-year decline to over 52%. Meanwhile, the CAC 40 falls 0.89% during trading, such that Stellantis ranks among the strongest declines in the Parisian index.
Renault, the only available comparable, retreats 2.18% for its part, signaling extended pressure on the French automotive sector. The stock is trading well below its three moving averages: the 20-day MA is at €4.51 (nearly 10% gap above the price), the 50-day MA at €4.72 (nearly 14% gap) and the 200-day MA at €6.39 (more than 36% above the current price). This distance from the moving averages reflects a downward trend established across all timeframes. The RSI at 36 is approaching oversold territory without yet definitively entering it, while the MACD remains oriented toward selling, its negative histogram indicating that downward pressure has not yet shown signs of pausing.
CIC Market Solutions maintains a €5.50 target price, far above current lows
In this context of price deterioration, analyst views on the stock remain a reference point. CIC Market Solutions reiterated on September 22 its 'hold' rating with a price target of €5.50, representing upside potential of more than 35% from the current price. This target nonetheless remains well above the level at which the stock is plunging during trading, illustrating the extent of the gap between analysts' target valuation and market reality. On the fundamental front, during the release of first-half 2026 results on July 30, Stellantis highlighted the growth of its Pro One division, with 7% expansion over the half-year and a successful launch of the Smart Compact Van in Europe.
Among the risks identified on that occasion was notably the alignment of electric van prices with diesel prices, likely to weigh on margins. According to the consensus of surveyed analysts, the stock trades at approximately 7.1 times expected earnings for the current fiscal year, a low multiple reflecting persistent questions about the group's profitability trajectory. The next technical level to watch is resistance at €4.14, formerly a support level, which now represents the first hurdle to reclaim to hope for a return to stability.
