STMicroelectronics stock among the strongest gainers on the CAC 40, +2.5%
The semiconductor manufacturer is regaining momentum and rising to the top of the CAC 40 at the end of a session favorable to the entire Paris stock exchange. It is also launching a new range of automotive sensors and publishing its accounts this week.
A rebound that leaves the stock far from its moving averages
STMicroelectronics closed at €40.50, up 2.62% compared to Friday's close (€39.47). This places it in third place on the CAC 40, in a session where the index gained 0.83% and the SBF 120 0.81%. The stock, however, remains 6.7% below its 200-day moving average (€43.42) and nearly 10% below its 20-day moving average (€44.81). After a decline of 10.2% over one month, today's rebound does not therefore change the technical balance of the stock.
The RSI at 37 also remained below the neutral zone. Comparable stocks are following suit: ASML is up 1.75% and ASM International 1.14%, both down 6% and 16% over one month. In the United States, Micron is up 3.9%, Lam Research 3.86%, AMD 2.9% and Nvidia 2.49%. Over one month, these stocks are showing declines ranging from 4% to 24%, which puts STMicroelectronics' rebound into perspective within a broader sector recovery day.
Sensors from NXP and third quarter results on Thursday
In a press release published this Monday, the group presented a range of combined automotive sensors, which bring together multiaxis accelerometer and gyroscope in a single package. These products should allow automakers to extend high-end safety and driver assistance functions to the mass market. These are the first launched on this market since the acquisition, in early 2026, of NXP's MEMS sensor activities.
The group will publish its third quarter 2026 results on October 29. The latest analyst opinions are available in the analyst consensus on the stock. The stock is at €40.50, and its support at €39.47 corresponds to Friday's closing level.
