TotalEnergies signs with ADNOC Gas for up to 1.6 million tonnes of LNG
On November 3, 2026, the group announced a liquefied natural gas supply agreement with ADNOC Gas, in the United Arab Emirates.
The announcement comes the day after agreements signed in Malaysia, still subject to approval by the regulator, which aim for a 30% stake in two gas fields intended to supply an already operational liquefaction plant.
Up to 1.6 million tonnes, first deliveries scheduled for 2026
The agreement covers the supply to TotalEnergies of up to 1.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas by ADNOC Gas. The first deliveries are scheduled for 2026.
The supplier, listed on the ADX, provides approximately 60% of the marketed gas requirements of the United Arab Emirates and supplies end customers in more than 20 countries.
Its LNG sales feed ADNOC's global marketing and trading platform, which brings together the capabilities of ADNOC Gas, XRG and ADNOC Trading.
A position between Europe and Asia highlighted by both parties
Stéphane Michel, Chief Executive Officer Gas, Renewables & Power at TotalEnergies, said the agreement “marks a new important step in our long-standing partnership.” He underlined the “ideal geographic position between Europe and Asia” of this new supply.
According to him, it will allow the group to “strengthen its position among the leading global LNG suppliers.”
Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas, stated: “Global demand for LNG continues to grow, and ADNOC Gas is well positioned to seize this opportunity.” She presents the agreement as a reflection of “the competitiveness of our offering” and of the company’s ability to forge long-term partnerships.
A supply to be compared with the 40 Mt of LNG sold in 2024
TotalEnergies reports having sold 40 Mt of LNG in 2024, which, according to the group, makes it the third largest player in the sector worldwide. It relies on stakes in liquefaction plants in all geographic regions and on access to more than 20 Mt/year of regasification capacity in Europe.
The group has set itself the ambition of increasing its production and long-term LNG purchases by 50% by 2030. The agreement with ADNOC Gas concerns purchases, while the Malaysian agreements relate to gas fields upstream of a liquefaction plant.
