Viridien Launches New Seismic Imaging Center in Cairo
Viridien has inaugurated a new seismic imaging center in Cairo, reaffirming its commitment to Egypt, where it has been operating for 50 years. This infrastructure is part of a strategy to strengthen its local presence and support the country's energy ambitions.
A Center Designed to Accelerate Egyptian Exploration
Sophie Zurquiyah, CEO of Viridien, inaugurated the new Cairo imaging center, describing it as a 'strategic investment'. This facility, designed to meet future challenges, has the necessary capacity and infrastructure to support the group's expansion in the Egyptian market. According to the executive, the center 'symbolizes the technical strength, professionalism, and ambition' of the local team. Viridien positions this equipment as a key element of its long-term strategy in Egypt, where it employs a 'highly motivated' team dedicated to providing superior imaging services to operators.
Viridien Aligns Its Technology with Egyptian Energy Goals
Zurquiyah emphasized that the Egyptian energy sector is on a dynamic and positive trajectory, attracting international investments. The national strategy prioritizes accelerating exploration and swiftly activating developments to consolidate the country's position as a regional energy hub and enhance its energy resilience. Viridien contributes to this dynamic by providing operators with the 'quick and reliable overview of the subsurface' needed to improve planning, extraction, and long-term energy strategies. The group is involved in acquiring and imaging new seismic data sets, as well as reprocessing historical data. Viridien highlights its 'multiclient OBN' (ocean bottom node) seismic program, conducted in partnership with the Egyptian company EGAS (Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company) and SLB. Presented as the largest ever acquired in the Eastern Mediterranean of Egypt, this program aims to clarify the understanding of the region's complex subsurface and identify new exploration and production opportunities.
