Xilam Showcases Two Films and Two Series at Annecy, Including 'Lucy Lost' in Competition and Disney+ Series 'The Doomies'
French animation studio Xilam is presenting two feature films and two series at Annecy, including a Disney+ premiere, marking a step in its diversification between cinema and platform content.
Two Films and Two Series at Annecy
Xilam is participating in the Annecy Festival with four major productions. The feature film 'Lucy Lost', an adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's novel, competes in the official selection following a Work in Progress presentation in 2025; it is set for theatrical release on October 28 via Le Pacte, with Canal+, Ciné+, and OCS holding pay-TV rights. Concurrently, the psychological film 'The Wolf' directed by Benjamin Massoubre and Fursy Tessier (directors of the Oscar-nominated 'I Lost My Body') is featured in a work-in-progress session; this thriller, based on the graphic novel by Jean Marc Rochette and focusing on a shepherd facing the appearance of a wolf, will be followed by a signing session with the author. The series 'The Doomies', a supernatural comedy co-produced with Disney Television Animation, is listed in the TV Movies category and is set to premiere on Disney+ on June 26 with 22 episodes of 30 minutes plus a short series of four episodes.
'Submarine Jim' Launched Simultaneously Across Multiple Territories
'Submarine Jim', an original 2D series by Xilam, makes its French debut on June 24 on Okoo (France Télévisions' catch-up platform) with 26 episodes. This production, already launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland on CBBC and iPlayer, is expanding to French-speaking Switzerland (RTS), Latin America, and Southeast Asia (Cartoon Network). Additional launches are planned in Germany (Super RTL, which commissioned the series with France Télévisions), Belgium (RTBF, VRT), the Netherlands (NPO), Finland (YLE), Norway (NRK), and Israel (Noga).
